Portland was a city early to bring back traditional bowling with it’s own special hipster twist. South East Portland’s Grand Central Bowl survived the lean years and came back big as people reclaimed this great way to play. The Bowl has grown into a multi venue entertainment hub with small clubs, music, lots of food choices… just go, you’ll have fun.
Portland Marathon
People all over the state of Oregon love to run. After all one of track and field’s greatest runners, Steve Prefontaine, is an Oregonian. He was born in Coos Bay and went to the University of Oregon. Portland is home to two of the top athletic apparel companies in the world, Nike and Adidas. Basketball
For the past couple years the Portland Trailblazers have been one of the more entertaining and exciting teams in the NBA. Brandon Roy is the cornerstone of the franchise and is a perennial all-star. While the Blazers have been beaten in the first round of the playoffs the past two seasons everyone in Portland, and all across the state, are looking for great things from this team in the years to come. Hiking Barefoot
Shoe Free? You bet, and Portlanders know how! The Portland Barefoot Hikers is an organization that spreads the word:
“Just about any location in the greater Portland, OR area is game, and we’re open to suggestions! In the past, we have done beginner to intermediate level hikes at Powell Butte and in various sections of Forest Park.”
100 Year Hiking
Portland is home to a 100 year old hiking club. The Mazamas Summer Climb Season opens May 1st. Visit their online Summer Climb Schedule to plan your spring & summer climbs.
